When you are a volunteer, you get to enjoy a number of benefits!
Volunteer Coffee
As a volunteer, you can get coffee, tea, and hot chocolate for free at the bar. If you take the last coffee and the café is not open, it is your responsibility to make more! Instructions can be found on the wall, and milk is available in the fridge under the bar.
Keep in mind that volunteer coffee is a privilege, not a right! If the coffee or milk runs out, it may simply be unavailable. You can kindly ask the Head of the Café to restock, but if they are busy, you can also buy supplies yourself at ICA and submit an expense report for reimbursement.
Store Your Mug in iDét
As a volunteer, you have access to unlock the door to the Café Storage/Border. Behind this door, you’ll find a wall with hooks designated for hanging mugs. You are welcome to hang your mug anywhere on the wall.
After using and washing your mug, make sure to return it to the wall. If the mug is left where it doesn’t belong (e.g., in the drying rack), it will be moved to the Black Hole, which is the cupboard under the sink in the bar.
Volunteer Fridge
The fridge to the right of the microwaves is available for volunteers to store their lunch. Make sure to label everything you place in the fridge with your name and the date. Every Friday after lunch, the fridge is cleaned out. Anything without a name and date, or that has been there for a week or more, will be thrown away—including food containers!
Border Fridge
When the café is closed, you can still buy soda and some snacks from the fridge in Border. Payments are made via Swish, with QR codes displayed on the walls near the fridge.
Skiphtesgasque
At the start of each year, the Skiphtesgasque is organized. It’s a formal dinner where all the new volunteers of the year are welcomed. All volunteers from both the previous and the current year are invited and can attend for free!
Thank You Events
Committee Thank-You
Each committee organizes an annual thank-you event for its volunteers. This usually happens at the end of the year and is a way for the guild to show appreciation for all the hard work done during the year.
Summer Thank-You
At the end of the spring semester, the board invites all volunteers to a thank-you event! The format varies, but it often includes games on the Green Grass, barbecuing, and dancing. Keep an eye on the website as the event draws closer for more details.
Winter Thank-You
To wrap up the year, the board organizes a thank-you event for everyone who has volunteered during the year. This often takes place over two days with an overnight stay in a cabin somewhere in Skåne. Food, games, and possibly dancing are included!
