Election meeting
Published 10/25/2024
Dear Guild!
It’s soon time for this year’s election meeting. The HTM-Election will be held on November 19th!
You can find the full notice here.
Feel free to reach out to me at ordforande@dsek.se, or talman@dsek.se if you have any questions or concerns.
Information about FREE FOOD will appear on the website, dsek.se, as the date approaches.
The call for nominations has been announced by the Nomination Committee here. Have a look to see how you can nominate yourself or others you think would be a great fit for a position!
Please note that at this meeting, no motions can be submitted. You'll have to wait until HTM2 in December.
IMPORTANT:
At HTM1, the section decided to leave the "Head of Student Well-being" position vacant. Elections to the The Student Well-being Committee must be conducted through guild meetings, typically by electing the Head of Student Well-being at HTM1, confirming the Nomination Committee at HTM Election, and electing the The Student Well-being Committee at HTM2. Since we must elect the Safety Representative before the end of the year by law, a Nomination Committee needs to be confirmed at the HTM Election so that the election can be conducted at HTM2.
My suggestion is to include the agenda item “Election of vacant positions” relatively early in the meeting, where we will have floor nominations for Head of Student Well-being. Then, add an agenda item “Confirmation of the The Student Well-being Committee Nomination Committee” toward the end of the meeting. Practically, this means that the Head of Student Well-being will be elected on the first meeting day, and they will then have a day to put together a Nomination Committee to present verbally on the adjournment day. Therefore, no documentation regarding the Nomination Committee will be submitted in advance. If you have any opinions on potential members for the Nomination Committee, make sure to attend the section meeting, as you won’t know in advance who will be on it.
The election will also be announced approximately three weeks before HTM2, which will deviate from the policy stating that all elections at guild meetings (including the The Student Well-being Committee, in my interpretation) should be announced at least four weeks in advance. This is, of course, something the meeting must decide on, but I will strongly recommend it, as the guild must have a Safety Representative. If you're considering running for Head of Student Well-being, I encourage you to think in advance about who you’d like to have on the Nomination Committee. This is, of course, not a requirement, and I will help the elected individual form a Nomination Committee if needed. If anything is unclear and you’re unsure about what will happen, don’t hesitate to ask me, and I can explain further in person!
Hope to see you there,
Emma
